Keeping Your Data Safe at OWNA

OWNA aims to keep its products, apps and websites safe for everyone, and data security is very important to us. To that end, here's some information about the measures OWNA takes to secure data.

Data security is a priority at OWNA. If you are a security researcher or OWNA customer and think you’ve found a security issue or vulnerability, we appreciate your help in disclosing it to us in a responsible manner. Please don’t access or modify data without permission, and act in good faith not to degrade the performance of our products, apps and websites.

If you believe you have discovered a vulnerability or have a security incident to report, let us know via email at support@owna.com.au. Please include a detailed description of the possible vulnerability and an email address where we can reach you in case we need more information. We'll work to assess your report as quickly as possible. We appreciate your help in making OWNA products, apps and websites secure. We'd also like to thank all those who have already reported security issues.

Frequently Asked Questions about OWNA Security

What does OWNA do to try to prevent and resolve security issues?

We take all reasonable steps to protect data, including through internal and external security, restricting access to data to those who have a need to know, maintaining technological products to prevent unauthorised computer access and regularly reviewing our technology to maintain security. We choose technology partners based on their security and privacy policies and practices.

The data is accessible only by servers where OWNA gives strict access including access to our Website, Portal, Android and IOS Apps. User passwords are encrypted and can only be decrypted by the person that created that password. OWNA also has coded access to the data so it is only available based on the centreID. Inter-centre data access can also be restricted, for example private posts and documents. Members of the OWNA team are also continually keeping our servers up to date with security patches and operating system updates.

How is my personal data protected?

We have security measures in place to protect you and your data. OWNA continuously evaluates our security position to further enhance the security of your data.

We only allow secure browsing to ensure that all traffic between you and our server is encrypted and protected from being read and tampered with. We have privacy protections in code to ensure your children's posts are only visible to their associated family and/or centre. We do not share any personal information about you and your children without your permission (unless required by law).

Personal Information stored in our system is protected by electronic and procedural safeguards. We take reasonable precautions to protect Personal Information (and other content) from accidental loss and theft by storing it in secure data centres with off-site backups. Communication between Users and our servers are encrypted using industry- standard security measures such as TLS 1.2 and SSL.

What access do third parties have to my personal data?

Please review our Privacy Policy to read about the ways your personal data may be shared with third parties.
